Home-Tech was proud to sponsor the Go Red for Women Luncheon today at the Coconut Point Hyatt Regency. To help the fundraising efforts to defeat heart disease, Home-Tech provided a Maytag Bravos XL washer and dryer pair. The winner of the washer and dryer was Charlene Gamero, who was quite delighted when her name was drawn. Funds are raised to educate the public, raise women’s awareness and research programs. A table full of women employee owners from Home-Tech were able to enjoy the luncheon.
Go Red for Women Luncheon Highlights
One of the highlights of the luncheon was the presentation given by the keynote speaker, Martha Lanier. Ms. Lanier related her story of surviving breast cancer and then a heart attack. She used humor in her presentation and stated that it was looking at these distressing events with humor that helped her beat the odds and survive them. Based out of Atlanta, she travels nationwide presenting keynotes and seminars on living your best life. Lanier’s website has more information about her.
Much information about heart disease and the risks and signs of a heart attack were presented today to the attendees. Heart disease is now the #1 killer of women. Many were shocked to hear that today, 69 women in Florida will die from heart disease or stroke and most will have no previous symptoms.
Home-Tech’s CEO, Steve Marino and his wife, Tamara Surratt Marino are in the Legacy Circle of Red. Also in the Legacy Circle of Red are Home-Tech CFO, Sonya Sawyer, her husband, Brian, and their children.
Each attendee received a booklet with the Go Red BetterU plan to help women improve their overall health and heart health. The Go Red BetterU plan is also available online at www.GoRedforWomen.org.
